A Superior Court ruling dismissing a Chippewas of Rama bid to retain 35 per cent of net revenue from Casino Rama has left the chief, council and community “surprised and disappointed” says Chief Sharon Stinson Henry.

In August KOTM Regional Coordinator Nancy Muller was invited to visit Beausoleil First Nation, a KOTM community on Christian Island in the Georgian Bay.
In June 1982, Martin McKay, the first chief of the newly formed Sachigo Lake First Nation, and one of the founders of the Windigo First Nations Council, said goodbye to his wife, Margaret, and went out for an evening boat ride. He never came back. Somehow, Martin drowned in the lake that evening leaving behind Margaret and 4 young sons.

OTTAWA — The Conservatives have issued another apology, this time for comments caught on video Wednesday by an assistant to Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon.
Mr. Cannon was campaigning in Maniwaki, Que., Wednesday when a group of protesters from the divided native community of Barriere Lake showed up to outline their demands.
