A team of researchers working out of Simon Fraser University is now completing its first year of a five year research initiative that will hopefully lead to a better understanding about the impact of broadband internet access in rural and remotes communities.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) invited Health Directors from across the Sioux Lookout Health Zone to come together to share and learn about e-health services and applications. $8.3M TO HELP FIRST NATIONS BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE

Feb. 20, 2009 - Ministry of Labour and Citizens' Services

VANCOUVER - The Province is providing another $8.3 million in funding to help bridge the digital divide for British Columbia First Nations, announced Labour and Citizens' Services Minister Iain Black today. The funding will be used toward First Nations connectivity to open up social and economic opportunities for rural and remote First Nations communities.

For the fourth year in a row the students at Eel Ground First Nation are being challenged to produce another award winning play about an important social issue challenging all communities across the country. The former principal of the school is now teaching in China. He is using the plays produced in previous years to support the Chinese students at his new school to learn about producing plays about these types of issues (see his message below the following newspaper article) ... GET Youth Ministries, a group from North Caribou Lake are once again planning their second prayer walk to their neighbouring community of Muskrat Dam on Feb. 27/28, 2009. This walk will take roughly about 21 hours but the group is very determined and extremely excited.

Their first walk last year was  successful and they feel in their hearts that this walk must be done once again.
