OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Sept. 2, 2009 - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Metis and non-Status Indians, today announced $3.1 million in funding for the purchase of fire trucks, firefighting equipment, and related training for Ontario First Nations.

(Two Feathers Forest Products LP, Ontario, Sept.1, 2009) Eagle Lake First Nation received $829,000 from the recent Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) announcement. This will support the Two Feathers Forest Products LP (TFFP) value added initiative. TFFP is a partnership involving Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Pikangikum First Nation, Eagle Lake First Nation and Finnish based Wood Tech Group.

From August 31st to September 3rd, new and returning KiHS teachers met in Balmertown for 4 days of training  for the 2009-10 school year.  These meetings are designed to inform teachers about how KiHS functions as an online high school, to review curriculum changes, and to to give all staff an opportunity to get to know one another.
