Importance of including Youth Board Advisors on the AHF & LHF Board of Directors
- Add youth’s unique perspective and insight to issues discussed by the Board;
 
- Develop leadership skills in tomorrow’s generation and provide them with professional experience;
 
- Create a holistic and well-balanced Board by including youth;
 
- Provide a youth perspective on matters discussed by the Board;
 
- Inform the Board regarding current issues that are facing Aboriginal youth; and
 
- Empower youth and encourage youth by providing them with this opportunity.
 
Criteria:
- Aboriginal descent
 
- 20-25 years of age
 
- Knowledgeable and interested in legacy of Residential Schools
 
- Interest in Board of Directors processes and governance issues
 
- Active community involvement
 
- Ability to communicate publicly
 
- Applicants are required to submit a résumé and brief biography
 
- Application deadline is October 1, 2009
