"Our government has an ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of First Nation communities," stated Minister Strahl. "This investment in firefighting assistance and training is crucial to maintaining the health and safety of First Nation residents. Now, every Ontario First Nation with a fire department will benefit from the equipment funded through today's announcement."

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) managed the purchase and delivery of fire trucks and firefighting equipment. The OFNTSC also helped co-ordinate the related firefighting training for Ontario First Nations in association with the Ontario Native Fire Fighters Society.

"The OFNTSC was pleased to assist the First Nations and INAC with the technical aspects of the fire truck purchase," said OFNTSC Executive Director, Bob Howsam. "The purchase of the equipment will assist the men and women who bravely volunteer to fight fires in their communities."
