March 8, 2010 – Thunder Bay, ON The Lakehead University Native Student Association (LUNSA), in partnership with Confederation College’s Oshki Anishnawbeg Student Association (OASA), is gearing up to welcome hundreds of guests to the Annual Powwow. The theme of this year’s event, which takes place at Lakehead University’s C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse over the weekend of March 13 and 14, is Our Mother Earth, Our Culture, Our Language.

Using a time-honoured tradition of standing behind the nominee of their choice, delegates from 16 native communities in the diocese of Keewatin’s northern Ontario region elected Archdeacon Lydia Mamakwa as their first area bishop on March 6.

Ontario will create jobs and strengthen the economy by exporting clean-water technology and strengthening postsecondary education for all Ontarians.
The government's five-year Open Ontario Plan was unveiled in a Speech from the Throne delivered by The Honourable David Onley, Ontario's Lieutenant Governor. The speech opened the second session of the province's 39th parliament.
