First Nations people in Manitoba have a life expectancy that is 8 years lower than other Manitobans (males: 68.4 vs 76.1 years and females: 73.2 vs 81.4 years). Canadian First Nations people are at much higher risk for type 2 diabetes and its risk factors than the overall Canadian population.

The Chiefs of Ontario, Education Coordination Unit and Union of Ontario Indians are hosting the 2nd Annual Education Conference on November 21 and 22, 2007, in Thunder Bay, Ontario at the Best Western Nor'Wester Resort Hotel.

Two news stories concerning how present legislation is quickly eliminating the recognition of STATUS Indians and all the inherent and treaty rights that exist for First Nation people with status.
