Neskantaga First Nation Traditional days & Pow wow

Boo shoo, Nee chee! To all knet readers ....

Neskantaga First Nation is holding a traditional days and combined with a Pow wow starting July 26, 2004.

This gives anyone an opportunity to seek a naming cerenomy (spiritual name) and to  participate with the sacred fire cereromy, sweat lodge ceremony as well as meet with your friends and reunite with your family members and make new friends as nishinawbe people.

All singers and dancers, Elders, healers story tellers, artists are welcome!!

Traditional food will be provided eg. sturgeon, moose meat, fresh walleye, Indian tacos and much more!

Telecom Centre hosted a Website Workshop this week for community members interested in developing and maintaining a local community portal. Jesse Fiddler from Keewaytinook Okimakanak facilitated the workshop in Big Trout Lake. Nearly formed Maori Party elects first member of parliament in New Zealand

The new Maori Party recently elected its first member of parliament in a by-election in Te Tai Hauauru, New Zealand.

The Te Karere Ipurangi Māori News Online headline read, "Turia feisty after historic win". The story continues ... "A jubilant Maori Party sent an uncompromising message to the government yesterday: we're here, we're real, and we won't be bailing you out if you get into trouble."
