Amnesty raps Canada for treatment of natives

Amnesty International's annual report on human rights is criticizing Canada for its failure to protect native girls and women who are killed or go missing.

The survey also slams the Harper government for stalled native land claims, and for cutting funds to groups that advance women's rights.

    Ipperwash Provincial Park land is being transferred to the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.

    Following a traditional sunrise ceremony, Aboriginal Affairs Minister Brad Duguid and Chief Elizabeth Cloud today signed an agreement to transfer Ipperwash Provincial Park land to the First Nation.
