OTTAWA - Canada's big telephone and cable companies must provide the highest broadband speeds available when they sell access to smaller Internet service resellers, the federal telecom regulator ruled Monday.

A new multi-use facility officially opening today is delivering improved services and increased capacity for post secondary education at the Union of Ontario Indians (UOI) facilities in North Bay.
With funding assistance from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), a new 7,500-square foot hub is now connecting four previously detached buildings used by the UOI to deliver a wide range of programs and services to its members.

A new, permanent Northern Ontario Energy Credit to help low- to middle-income families and individuals in the north who face higher energy costs than residents in southern parts of the province.
People living in the north tend to pay more for energy. Energy costs are often higher in the north because the winters are more severe and there is heavier reliance on more expensive home heating fuels.
