A tragedic early morning fire claimed the life of a Sandy Lake woman, Delilah Meekis, age 32 on April 13, 2001. As of this posting her partner Mervin Meekis age 38 is still missing. Fire Marshall Ralph Waffer from Thunder Bay And N.A.P.S Officer Sgt. Jim Hiller from Sioux Lookout are investigating. Investigators confirmed that Mervin Meekis was not in the building that was destroyed by fire. Aerial and ground search has now started on April 14 for Mervin Meekis. Today the body of Delilah Meekis will be flown out for autopsy. Funeral arrangements are panding autopsy completion. Delilah Meekis is leaving behind two young children.
