Ottawa - Dec. 15 - A report released by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) falls far short of addressing Aboriginal students' needs. The report recommended maintaining current levels of federal funding for Aboriginal post-secondary education and to shut Aboriginal communities out of the decision-making process.

Toronto - The Honourable Justice Murray Sinclair, Chair of Truth and Reconciliation Canada (TRC), with Commissioners Marie Wilson and Chief Wilton Littlechild, today announced that the TRC’s first national event will commence in Winnipeg on June 15, 2010. It will run to June 19, 2010. The event will take place at the Forks, an historical gathering place for Aboriginal people.

Ontario has reached an agreement to settle litigation with Platinex Inc. that will provide greater certainty to the company and allow the Province to continue to build its relationship with Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) a First Nations community.

The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today launched national consultations in Québec City to give Canadians the opportunity to voice their views on how to best lead Canada to full economic recovery as the Government prepares its 2010 budget – the second phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan. Consultations in other cities will be announced later in December and January.
