Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) / Northern Chiefs Council is looking for a Crisis Coordinator for the KO Crisis program for Six (6) months.
This is a 35-hour week position, salary dependant on qualifications and work experience. This position will commence June 7, 2010. The Crisis Coordinator will report to the KO Health Director.
Summary: Under the direction of the KO Health department and the KO community leadership, the KO Crisis Coordinator will work with the member community crisis coordinators and the community crisis team to reduce the impact of suicide and family violence by supporting individuals and families through a crisis; support the training, coordination and services of the volunteer Crisis Team, including use and storage of equipment and developing team policies and protocols. The KO Crisis Coordinator will be responsible to ensure the goals of and reporting of the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy Crisis Intervention program are being met.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• Post-secondary degree in Social Services or equivalent in Health Administration or other appropriate disciplines.
• Minimum five years pertinent work experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with various program management requirements • Computer skills essential
• Ability to prepare and submit reports
• Available to travel • Ability to speak Oji-cree/Cree an asset
• Perform other duties as required
