Assistant Health Director   



Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Services coordinates delivery of community-based projects and administers regional health programming and services to the First Nation communities of Fort Severn, Keewaywin, Deer Lake, Poplar Hill, North Spirit Lake and McDowell Lake.

 

   KO Health Department invites applications for the position of Assistant Health Director, located in Balmertown, Ontario for a contract period of 6 months.   
 
 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
The Assistant Health Director is a full-time position responsible for the overall management and coordination of health related programs with the aim of increasing community capacity and strengthening community health programs and services. The Assistant Health Director reports to and works under the direction of the KO Health Director.  
 
 
Duties include but not limited to: 

                     provide financial analysis and complete reporting of various KO health programs

                     act as an intermediary for funding agencies related to reporting

                     complete reporting for the various KO Health programs

                     provide accurate record keeping on the various KO Health programs

                     provide the Chiefs and the KOHAC with financial and program summaries

                     provide technical and financial support to the Tribal Council and its First Nations’ communities in the field of health

                     provide personnel assistance and advice to the community Health Directors including recruitment, interviewing and discipline procedures

                     training and evaluation of KO health staff and community staff

                     communicating and interpreting policies and procedures to staff

                     handling client grievance procedures ensuring quality program services are delivered

                     ensure supervisors fulfill their responsibilities

     



Qualifications: 

  • Post secondary Education in Nursing, Social Services, Administration or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the health field with community based program delivery or equivalent
  • Strong writing skills for proposals, work plans and reports
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to travel within service area
  • Ability to speak Oji-cree an asset
  • Proficiency in computer programming and applications
