Land Use Planning Assistant
(8 week contract position, 3 year exchange program)
Location: Balmertown Office & MNR Office in Red Lake
Organization: Keewaytinook Okimakanak Tribal Council in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources
Eligibility:
∙ Between the ages of 15 and 24 (up to 29 for persons with a disability).
∙ An Ontario resident.
∙ Eligible to work in Canada.
∙ Self-identify as Aboriginal
Description/Qualifications:
∙ Assisting with planning and coordinating special events and outreach activities related to far north land use planning.
∙ The assistant may research, create, edit and maintain spatial and related attribute data, analyze data, generate maps and tables and prepare summary reports as required.
∙ Attend training sessions as required.
∙ This position requires good communication, organizational, and computer skills (Word, Excel).
Rate of Pay: Minimum wage ($9:50/hr)
Note:
∙ This is a three (3) year exchange program; the successful candidate will be employed for three (3) consecutive summers with either the MNR (Red Lake) or First Nation partner.
∙ Payment is direct deposit; the successful candidate will need to have a bank account prior to starting the position.
∙ A Social Insurance Number is required
