Health Sciences Faculty position for Pre-Health Sciences Bridging program at Oshki

HEALTH SCIENCES FACULTY

18 Month Contract PositionWe are inviting applications for a Health Sciences Faculty member for Pre-Health Sciences Bridging program.  The Pre-Health Sciences Bridging program is offered in a modular format; students attend a one-week on-campus sessions in each semester and the remaining is through distance delivery. This position requires flexibility, intensive instruction hours during the on-campus sessions, distance delivery platforms, preparation and student support by telephone and email when students are in their home communities. Responsibilities:
  • To teach three courses each semester:  Science, Biology & Mathematics
  • To develop independent studies as part of a distance education program
  • To act as an Academic Advisor to the students;
  • To ensure effective coordination and implementation of program timetables and revise or develop as necessary;
  • To participate in the review and revision of existing course outlines and selection of current materials including textbooks;
  • To consult and meet with the advisory committee;
  • To be able to travel to communities to provide academic support;
  • To prepare academic reports to funders and partner institutes;
  • To perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time to assist in the successful operation of the institute.
 Qualifications:
  • Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math teaching experience
  • Ontario Teaching Credential
  • Understanding of the learning requirements of Aboriginal students including adult students
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter
  • Ability to excel as a member of a team
