Writing Lab Instructor [Part-Time Contract Term Appointment]

As
a key member of the Learning Centre Team, the Writing lab Instructor’s
primary function is to provide support for Algoma U degree program
students who seek to improve their writing and composition skills.
Duties will include tutoring individuals, facilitating small-group
workshops, delivering occasional seminars, maintaining confidential
student records, tracking usage of the service, assessing writing
proficiency, and other related functions, in accordance with the
Writing Lab Policies and Procedures.
Minimum qualifications include:
Graduate degree in English, Adult Education, or related discipline preferred; minimum requirement of a four-year BA.
Experience using and ability to guide the use of MLA and APA specifications.
Experience
working with recent high-school graduates, mature students, Indigenous
students, and students with English as a second language.
Strong interpersonal and administrative skills.
Experience working in a writing lab and/or as a tutor and TESL training are considered assets.
Demonstrated learner-centered instructional style; teaching experience preferred.
