CAPACITY DEVELOPER

The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) is currently accepting applications for the position of Capacity Developer. This position is to ensure the Capacity Development Project is implemented, meets ONWA standards and guidelines, liaison with ONWA membership and to facilitate the capacity development sessions across the province.
RESPONSIBILITIES

To facilitate and coordinate the capacity/leadership development sessions within the province.

Research and review capacity development sessions, and make recommendations for improvement.

Assist in the creation of the capacity development sessions.

Follow up with the participant’s feedback commentary.
-
Develop and write comprehensive reports after each capacity session.

Host capacity development sessions.
-
Book the venue and catering of the sessions.
-
Development of promotional and advertising material.
-
Coordinate and book all travel arrangements.
-
Develop and implement an evaluation tool for capacity development sessions.

Link with other community partners to deliver the sessions.

Complete all reports required as outlined in the contribution agreement and forward completed reports to the Capacity Development Team Leader

Adhere to the policies and procedures as stated in Ontario Native Women’s Association’s (ONWA) Personnel Manual

Practice effective communication with fellow employees, supervisors, members and Board of Directors.

Act as an effective and contributing ONWA team member.

Attend all mandatory staff meetings.

Complete other related duties as assigned by the Capacity Development Team Leader
QUALIFICATIONS
-
University degree in social sciences or College diploma in business service and 2 years experience in a community setting.

Excellent administrative/coordination duties.
-
Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and computer.

Proficiency in computer programs especially Microsoft Office 2003.

Ability to plan, organize and to manage time effectively.

Highly motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision and able to meet strict reporting deadlines.

Capacity to problem solve and to see different perspectives.

Demonstrated experience in facilitation of workshops/seminars
-
Experience coordinating workshops and/or conferences.
-
Ability to network with other community agencies/services/organizations.
-
Knowledge of Aboriginal Culture, Tradition, and Aboriginal Community.

Awareness of Community Resources.
-
Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle with valid insurance and a safe driving record.
-
Ability to speak an Aboriginal Language is considered an asset.
SALARY: The anticipated salary for this position is $35,000 - $40,000
