THUNDER BAY, ON, May 4 /CNW/ - Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Deputy Grand Chief Terry Waboose welcomes the arrival to Nishnawbe Aski Nation schools a program called Fun in Athletics.
Administered by International Fun and Team Athletics (IFTA), the program is designed to educate youth of the achievements of great First Nations sporting heroes, and through modern physical fitness programming and goal setting, to inspire them to take up sports.

OTTAWA – April 29, 2009, The National Centre for First Nations Governance is traveling to First Nations in Ontario to assist with rebuilding the way they govern their Nations.
Ontario First Nations have received advice on consultation, territorial rights, election laws and citizen engagement.

From 20-24 April, 2009, Indigenous representatives from the Arctic, North America, Asia, Pacific, Latin America, Africa, Caribbean and Russia met in Anchorage, Alaska for the Indigenous Peoples' Global Summit on Climate Change. We thank the Ahtna and the Dena'ina Athabascan Peoples in whose lands we gathered.

THUNDER BAY, ON, April 30 /CNW/ - Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Grand Chief Stan Beardy acknowledges the attempts the Government of Ontario has made to address First Nations concerns over mining in the Mining Act amendment bill introduced by the Government of Ontario today, but is very concerned that the legislation might not fully recognize the rights of First Nations to decide on mining in NAN territory.

Sioux Lookout, April 27, 2009- The Community Coalition for Healing and Reconciliation has developed a strong year-round plan for strengthening right relations between First Nations and non-First Nations people. The national campaign office for the National Day of Healing and Reconciliation is recognizing their efforts by declaring Sioux Lookout to be the national host for this day.
