Epidemic of violent crimes brings Eabametoong First Nation to its knees

October 22nd, 2010 — Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope) is declaring a State of Emergency today following a series of violent crimes that have caused community members to fear for their personal safety.

Eabametoong First Nation is a remote, fly-in only community of more than 1200 people located in Northern Ontario.

New pharmacy being built by First Nations

Area First Nation residents will get comprehensive pharmaceutical dispensing and counselling a little closer to home when the Rainy Lake First Nations Pharmacy opens its doors later this year.

A partnership between the Rainy Lake Tribal Development Corp. and pharmacist Edwin Bruyere, the new business is being built at the Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre on Couchiching.
