Privatization or Progress? Unpublicized Project Surfaces as a RED ALERT!

Indian Affairs Unleashes a “Special Project” on “Reserve Land and First Nations Development”

Thanks to Russell Diabo for this information

A Special Project on Reserve Land and First Nations Development is being conducted by Paul Fauteux. Indications are that the project is designed to further the proposals of Manny Jules and Tom Flanagan that privatization of reserve lands would solve First Nation’s economic issues.

Flanagan has been a senior advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and is co-author of a recently published book on the privatization of reserve lands. The book was reviewed by Dr. Pam Palmeter1 in a recent issue of <enotes> which also quoted from a series on the subject which appeared in the National Post.

Working with Mr. Fauteux is Manny Jules, who recently has become an outspoken proponent of the privatization of reserve lands. He is the Chief Commissioner of the federal First Nations Tax Commission. Also on the team is Harold Calla, chair of the federal First Nations Financial Management Board, and Chief Clarence Louis in his capacity as chair of the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board. All three men are appointed to their positions by the Minister of Indian Affairs.
