Keewaytinook Okimakanak is seeking a Lands and Resources Researcher to support First Nation projects through training, research and reporting.
The intern will coordinate online Lands and Resources workshops and manage reporting and budgeting for the project. Maintain training website and support video conferencing gatherings. Assist with community visits and gatherings. Draft and submit proposals. Data analysis, reporting and prepare presentations. This is a training and work experience program funded in part by NOHFC.
Detailed Duties
1. Facilitate the Online Lands & Resources Planning Workshops including creating and maintain the project website (www.meeting.knet.ca), contacting participants & speakers, booking presenters and gathering feedback.
2. Assist with community research including community visits, meetings, youth gatherings, interviews and video filming and editing.
3. Support KO First Nation leadership with drafting proposals, budgeting and report writing.
Training Objectives
Intern to develop knowledge and skills regarding: the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mapping, video conferencing, video filming and editing, IP telephony, online learning platforms, community-based research, government procedures, budgeting and First Nation procedures. Develop skills regarding training, mentoring, project management, preparing presentations, reports and data analysis.
KO / NOHFC Requirements
1. Recent graduate of IT, Business or related program from an accredited college or university with technical background.
2. Must have graduated from a northern Ontario high school.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of online applications, Microsoft Office and Wordperfect Suites.
6. Demonstrated project management and mentoring skills.
7. Ability to speak Oji-Cree, Ojibway or Cree is an asset.
8. Must be 29 years of age or under.
