ONTARIO - Aboriginal Team Ontario has extended the deadline for applications for team staff for the 2010 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships to take place in Ottawa, Ontario, in April 2010.
There will be four (4) teams comprised of bantam/midget players participating from Ontario: North male and female, and South male and female. All participants must be Aboriginal (First Nation -status/non-status, Metis and Inuit). Should a participant be of Aboriginal ancestry but not hold the necessary documentation, they must complete a Declaration of Ancestry that outlines ancestral lineage.
Applications are being accepted for the positions listed below. All applicants are recommended to be of Aboriginal ancestry.
General Manager
► Previous hockey management experience and knowledge of hockey system
► Experience recruiting and scouting, Coach certification preferred
► Previously demonstrated administrative and communication skills
► Financial management and fund development experience
Head Coach
► Hockey coaching experience, Dev. 1 Coach Certification (min. requirement)
► Experience recruiting, scouting and selection of team
► Previously demonstrated administrative and communication skills
Assistant Coach (2)
► Hockey coaching experience, Community Coach Certification (min. requirement)
► Previously demonstrated administrative and communication skills
Trainer
► Previous experience, Level 2 Trainer Certification (min. requirement)
► Equipment management experience an asset
NOTE: These positions are volunteer, and this opportunity is a self-funded event. All selected individuals will be required to submit a criminal record check. Applicants will also live and promote a holistic lifestyle and adhere to the traditions and values as set out by Aboriginal Team Ontario.
