Menoyawin Press Release

Appointment of Interim CEO for Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre

Frank Beardy and Kai Koivukoski, Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors of the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre, are pleased to announce that Mr. Douglas Semple has been chosen as the interim CEO effective November 9, 2009. Mr. Semple replaces Mr. Roger Walker, who will assume new responsibilities as the CEO of the Timmins and District Hospital later in November.

In addition to graduate level education at Queen’s University and the University of Liverpool, Douglas has several years of hospital administration experience as a key part of the SLMHC management team.

“His positive style will complement the teamwork, partnership and patient care philosophy of our organization,” said Koivukoski. “This will also be an asset in the upcoming transition of CEO leadership.”

“Doug is well known throughout all of our communities, and will ensure continuity of the good work being done to enhance health services for all,” said Beardy.

“I look forward to building on the solid foundation of service, quality and accomplishment for which SLMHC is known,” said Semple. “The contemporary challenges of health services will provide many opportunities for us to continue on the path of leadership, enhancement and integration of health services for our area.”

The search for a permanent replacement for Roger Walker continues with support from People First HR, a Winnipeg-based executive search firm.
