JOB POSTING at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), in partnership with The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO) is inviting exceptional scholars to apply for the new position of Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario Chair in Aboriginal and Rural Health at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. The Faculty appointment will be a tenure track appointment at NOSM. The Chair appointment will be for a five year term and renewable.
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is a joint initiative between Lakehead and Laurentian Universities. With campuses in Thunder Bay and Sudbury, the School has multiple teaching and research campus sites distributed across Northern Ontario, in large and small communities. The School contributes to improving the health of people in Northern Ontario.
The role of the Chair is to:
The Chair shall provide leadership and promote a shared vision across a large geographic area with diverse user populations and have the ability to work consultatively and collaboratively with students, faculty, university and hospital administrators, government officials, Aboriginal Organizations, and the public. The Chair shall be located in one of the Academic Divisions in the School, Human Sciences, Medical Sciences or Clinical Sciences.
The candidate must hold an MD and/or PhD degree and must satisfy the criteria for appointment to the Assistant or Associate Professor rank as found in the Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will have a full-time position at NOSM at the time of taking up the Chair or have an offer of a full-time tenure track appointment at NOSM. NOSM will consider applications from candidates at different career stages, but preference will be given to those at the Assistant or Associate Professor stage of their career.
