TORONTO, March 3 /CNW/ - Dr. Bonita Porter, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced further details on the inquest into the death of Reggie Bushie.
The body of Reggie Bushie, 15, was recovered from the McIntyre River in Thunder Bay on November 1, 2007. He had last been seen alive at the riverside on October 26, 2007.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the death and will explore issues relating to how First Nation youths are impacted when attending schools that are a considerable distance from their homes. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Ontario Government Building, 189 Red River Road, Thunder Bay. Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Debra Kinsella and Mr. Trevor Jukes will be counsel to the coroner.

TORONTO, March 3 /CNW/ - Dr. Bonita Porter, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced further information on the inquest into the deaths of Ricardo Wesley and Jamie Goodwin.
Mr. Wesley, 22, and Mr. Goodwin, 20, died on January 8, 2006, following a fire at the police holding facility in Kashechewan First Nation. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies while in custody.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing deaths in similar circumstances.
The jury will be empanelled at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Toronto Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street.
Subject to weather and other considerations, it is planned that the jury will visit the community of Kashechewan on March 9, 2009. The inquest will convene in the gymnasium of Francine J. Wesley Secondary School at 11 a.m. after which the jury will view the fire scene and other relevant sites.
The inquest will then resume at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Toronto Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street. Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Margaret Creal and Ms. Jamie Klukach will be counsel to the coroner.
