TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin will be in Thunder Bay February 8 and 9 for the fourth stop in its On the Road tour to meet Ontarians and discuss the changing nature of our province’s regional economies. While in Thunder Bay, The Agenda will be exploring Ontario’s Aboriginal economy.

On Sunday, February 8, TVO will host a day-long forum on the future of Ontario’s Aboriginal economy, at Fort William First Nation Community Centre. Called “AgendaCamp”, this is a citizen-driven participatory event that takes place the day before the live broadcast. It is an opportunity to connect with experts, community leaders and fellow citizens - and some of the best exchanges will be featured on the broadcast Monday night. TORONTO, Jan. 27 - Aboriginal people in Ontario have a long and cherished tradition of meeting as a people to share their stories and build community. In that spirit TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin will be in Thunder Bay February 8 and 9 for its fourth of five stops on its "On the Road" tour exploring the changing nature of Ontario's regional economies. The Thunder Bay stop will focus on Ontario's Aboriginal economy and TVO is asking Aboriginal leaders, policy makers and members of the public to play a key role in the two-day interactive event.

TVO's visit to Thunder Bay will feature the AgendaCamp, a daylong workshop on Sunday February 8 at the Fort William First Nation Community Centre, and a live broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road the following day, Monday February 9, at 8 pm in the Shuniah Building of Confederation College.

The AgendaCamp, taking place the day before the broadcast, will be a key part of the visit to Thunder Bay. The innovative TVO-hosted community forum will bring together community leaders, policymakers, members of the public, program guests, anchor and senior editor Steve Paikin and invited bloggers to problem-solve around the major economic issues, challenges and opportunities for the region. A wider online audience will be able to follow and contribute to the AgendaCamp at www.tvo.org/agendacamp. The best content will be used on the broadcast of The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road the following day.

"I had the pleasure of meeting some members of the Aboriginal community at the Sault Ste. Marie AgendaCamp for our look at the resource economy," says Steve Paikin. "People like Chief Isadore Day brought remarkable insight and perspective that to the discussion and I'm looking forward to carrying that level of engagement into Thunder Bay."

To participate in the AgendaCamp on February 8, or for free tickets to be part of the audience for The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road on February 9, go to www.tvo.org/agendacamp to register.

The final stop for The Agenda with Steve Paikin: On the Road will be in Waterloo, March 29-30, 2009 looking at the innovation economy. Previous stops included Windsor in October focusing on Ontario's manufacturing economy, Sault Ste. Marie in November on the province's resource sector, and Kingston in January on the agriculture economy.
