Youth Leadership Project Coordinator
Grand Council Treaty #3 invites applications for a short-term Youth Leadership Project Coordinator. The successful applicant will be a Treaty #3 youth between 18 and 29 years of age, a highly motivated, organized and results-oriented individual working as a team member under the guidance and direction of the Justice Coordinator and Project Coordinators. The Youth Project Coordinator’s primary role is to successfully carry out a series of First Nation youth forums across Treaty #3. This will include planning, organizing, promoting, facilitating the sessions, and reporting on the results. These consultation meetings are intended for youth to share ideas for the future of the Treaty 3 Youth Council and Oshki Aayaa’Aag Bimaadiziwin (Good Life for Young People) Foundation. This position is sponsored through a contribution from Shooniyaa Wa-Bitoong Training & Employment Centre.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Use of good judgment and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Ø Working knowledge of MS Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, internet research, and email
Ø Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ø Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Ø Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and traditions
Ø Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with youth participants, First Nations leadership, co-workers and general public
Ø Must possess a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle
Term position based on $13.75 per hour, begins immediately and ends March 31, 2009.
