Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) has an opening for an Off-Reserve secondary School Intake Coordinator (IC). This is a short term four (4) month contact position which may result in full-time employment.
Intake Coordinator Responsibilities
The Intake Coordinator will be responsible for, but not to limited to travel to each Keewaytinook Okimakanak Tribal Council First Nation to:
- Ensure all eligible secondary school students within the jurisdiction of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education (K.O.B.E.) member First Nations (Fort Severn First Nation, Keewaywin First Nation, Deer Lake First Nation, North Spirit Lake First Nation, McDowell Lake First Nation, and Popular Hill First Nation) are given the opportunity to find a place in the Secondary Schools(s) of their choice;
- Meet with eligible secondary school students and their parents /guardians to provide detailed information and assistance regarding application and acceptance procedures;
- Assist in the development, organization and presentation of information regarding First Nation and Provincial High Schools and course/program options to our students and their parents/guardians;
- Liaise closely with K.O.B.E. Directors of KO social Counsellors (KOSC) and the Local Education Authority designate in each KO community regarding their eligible high school students;
- Liaise closely with Keewaytinook Okimakanak internet High School IKISH) and KO member First Nations regarding High School Credit Options for early teens (Grade 9 ad 10) and Youth (18+); and
- Share information about KO partnership discussions within the Sioux Lookout District, as well, First Nation and Provincial high Schools and their Boards.
In addition the Intake Coordinator will be responsible for the following key areas:
Group Home Options, Documentation, Meeting Critical Deadlines, the Admission Process, Initial Intake of Students, Approvals, Wait List Process, Student Travel, Accommodation, the Boarding/Group Home Recruitment, Screening and Application Process.
Intake Coordinator Experience
All applicants will be required to provide the Keewaytinook Okimakanak hiring panel with:
- A resume, which highlights their work experience relevant to the Intake Coordinator position;
- Evidence of their levels of education;
- A cover Letter, which states why they are applying for the position and how their qualifications and experience are right for the job of Intake Coordinator;
- Three references, two (2) of which must be from a former employer and/or supervisor; and
- Ability to speak a local First Language is an asset.
