SLARC press release

Youth use art to explore what’s Under the Surface of hate crimes

Sioux Lookout October 3, 2008

For the last 6 months the youth in Sioux Lookout have had the opportunity to learn, explore and share their thoughts about hate crimes.  They have explored the issue of hate crimes through speakers, drama, guided discussion and art work.  The community is invited to come and see the art work in a display entitled ‘Under the Surface’.  It will be shown at the A-Frame Gallery (881/2 Front St) for the next week most evenings from 7 to 9 pm except Sunday.  Live music and special recognition in various categories will be part of the closing night celebrations on Friday, October 10th at 7pm.

Come out and support this important initiative working to end hate crimes in our community.  For more information or to schedule viewing during the day for classes or groups, call 737-0019.

Watch for the Youth Against Hate Crimes Play coming up at the end of October!
