Free Grade 7 and 8 Online supplementary courses for First Nation elementary schools

Attention Grade 7 and 8 Teachers...

.

Over the last four years, hundreds of students from First Nation elementary schools like yours have participated in the Ned Supplementary Courses Program ( www.ned.ca ) . This year we’re happy to announce that we have added grade 7 Science to our list of courses.

Participation is free and easy for both teachers and students. Students are required to access the Internet for three hours per week (scheduled according to your preference). During this time, students work to complete short assignments written for especially First Nation schools. All submitted work is marked by a qualified teacher. As the local teacher, your role would be to control student enrollment, monitor their progress and provide academic guidance.  Please note that the Ned Program is designed to enrich – not replace – classroom learning through the following goals:

  • Improve students’ computer, science, math and literacy skills

  • Help prepare students for high school

  • Promote awareness and pride in First Nations identity, events and issues

  • Connect students and teachers from First Nations schools across Ontario

Registration is now open for the upcoming English Literacy courses which are scheduled to begin on October 6, 2008.  We invite you to visit our website to find out more about these courses and to see how ned.ca can help your school take advantage of other eLearning opportunities.
