Nishnawbe Aski Nation providing grants for Health Careers Promotion Activities in First Nations

Nishnawbe Aski Nation is pleased to announce two funding initiatives aimed at supporting the development and implementation of Health Careers promotional activities:

  1. Health Careers Day Grant Program; and
  2. Allied Health Professions Awareness Camps Program

Through these programs NAN communities, Tribal Councils, and affiliated organizations will have the opportunity to receive funds to create and deliver a Health Careers Day event or an Allied Health Professions Awareness Camp for NAN youth.

Grant Program Details:

Health Careers Day Grant Program

  • Ten (10) grants of $1,000 each will be awarded in the NAN territory this year.
  • Applicants must be a member of NAN.
  • An application must be submitted which details a "Health Careers Day" event.  The event must be offered and completed by November 30, 2008.
  • A final report of the event must be submitted to the AHHRI Policy Analyst within two (2) weeks of event completion.

Deadline for applications: Friday, September 26, 2008

Allied Health Professions Awareness Camps Program

  • Four (4) grants of $10,000 each will be awarded in the NAN territory this year.
  • Applicants must be a member of or serve members of NAN.
  • Applicants must submit a proposal that outlines the planning and delivery of an "Allied Health Professions Awareness Camp" targeting NAN secondary school youth.  The camp must be offered and completed by February 27, 2009.
  • Proposed projects must meet specific project requirements.
  • A final report of the project must be submitted to the AHHRI Policy Analyst within two (2) weeks of camp completion.

Deadline for proposals: Wednesday, October 15, 2008

All applications/proposals received by the deadline date will be reviewed by a Selection Committee and all applicants will be notified of the results.  Due to the limited amount of available funding, incomplete or late applications/proposals will not be considered.
