(Sioux Lookout Ontario, August 15th, 2008) The Interim Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. William Dumas, effective July 15, 2008 as the new Executive Director of the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council.
Mr. Dumas is Cree, he is fluent and writes in his language, he is from South Indian Lake and is a member of the Nelson House First Nation in Manitoba.
Mr. Dumas has thirty years experience in the field of education as a teacher, vice-principal and principal, aboriginal education consultant and director of education. He also has experience working on reserves and in urban centres. Mr. Dumas has ten years experience in administration including working with numerous First Nation education authorities and has served on a number of upper education councils in Manitoba.
We welcome Mr. Dumas into his new capacity as the Executive Director of the NNEC. To all the students, parents, education authorities, Chiefs and Councils and First Nation organizations in the Sioux Lookout area we trust that we will receive Mr. Dumas with respect and will afford him our support and cooperation as he undertakes his new responsibilities.
