AFN Annual General Assembly to be held in Quebec City

     Event:     AFN Annual General Assembly
     Date:      Tuesday July 15 - Thursday July 17, 2008
     Location:  Hall 2000 AB, Quebec City Convention Centre (QCCC)

     OTTAWA, July 11 /CNW Telbec/ - The Assembly of First Nations is holding its 29th Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Quebec City. Agenda items include:

  • Residential Schools Apology,
  • Truth and Reconciliation Commission,
  • United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,
  • National Day of Action outcomes,
  • Education and Child Welfare,
  • Consultation and Accommodation and Treaty implementation.

     The National Chief, Phil Fontaine will deliver his opening remarks at 10:00 am on July 15th and he will be available to the media immediately following.

     There will also be a background briefing regarding the AGA for interested media on Monday July 14th in Room 2103 at the QCCC at 7:00 pm.
