First Nation SchoolNet youth employment initiative supporting videoconferencing in tribal councils


Youth from Timmins (Mushkegowuk), Mattagami (Wabun), M'Chigeeng (UCCM), Mississauga (North Shore) and Whitefish Bay (AKRC) gathered in Sioux Lookout this week at Keewaytinook Okimakanak's K-Net office to learn about how they can support the effective use of videoconferencing in their respecitive tribal council offices. These young people will be working with interested tribal councils and territorial organizations to help them develop and utilize videoconferencing meeting spaces.

The workshop was lead by Angie Morris, Youth Project Coordinator from Muskrat Dam First Nation. Jesse Fiddler (from Muskrat Dam First Naiton), Lyle Johnson, Cal Kenny and other K-Net team members worked with the youth from these tribal council to provide them with different aspects of setting up the facilities and hosting videoconferencing sessions.
