Grand Entry
As part of the NAN XXVII Keewayin Conference this year, Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) will have a Grand Entry the morning of Day One, leading to the commencement of the meeting. NAN invites all of their respected Chiefs to partake in the Grand Entry with their First Nation's flag. Staffs and flag poles will be provided for each First Nation flag and will remain in the meeting room for the duration of the Conference.
Keewaywin Awards
The Annual Keewaywin Awards banquet will take place on the evening of Wednesday August 13th, 2008. Attached, please find a copy of the Nomination Form for this year. The categories are: Youth, Woman, Elder and the Emile Nakogee Award. The deadline for nominations is Friday July 11th, 2008. Please fax these to 807.623.7730, Attention: Keewaywin Awards Committee. Resolutions
Resolutions passed at Nishnawbe Aski Nation Chiefs' Assemblies give the Nishnawbe Aski Nation Executive Council and Staff the authority to lobby governments and pursue intiatives related to First Nations and the mandate of NAN. These resolutions, for the most part, are related to matters that affect all First Nations, although one may be passed in support of an issue specific of an issue specific to one First Nation.
The requested format to submit a resolution is preferably by email. An electronic version can be found on our website www.nan.on.ca. The deadline for receipt of resolutions is Friday July 11th, 2008.
Treaty Dicsussion Forum Symposium
The TDF will be hosting a symposium for all Chiefs, Delegates, Guests and Community members on Monday August 11th and Tuesday August 12th, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Lawrence Jeffries, 1.866.737.0737.
