Fibre break near Ignace leaves remote First Nations north to Bearskin disconnected

Poles have been installed now splicing Fiber. Estimate time of repair is late evening.

Major fault is a logging machine caught our cable and tore down some poles. Major restoration is underway with no confirmed estimated time of repair as of yet.

Our long distance phone service is down in the community since Sunday evening around 8 PM. We can only do local calls. Our internet service is also not working.

There has been a major fibre damage between Ignace and the Radio relay site located just outside Igance.

Crews have been dispatched to replace a section of the fibre at this time.
