Lakehead University Native Access Program
The Native Access Program is for Aboriginal people who do not meet the regular or mature student admission criteria and who require additional academic preparation and skills to become eligible for admission to other university degree programs.
The program is designed to provide students with the academic preparation necessary for them to succeed in regular university degree programs.Students take foundation courses in English, Study Skills, Mathematics and Science. Students also take a degree course elective.
All students in the program have access to tutoring, personal and academic counselling, and a culturally sensitive support network designed to create an environment where students can succeed. This is a full-time program that commences in September of each year and continues to the end of the academic year in late April. On successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for admission to continue their studies in selected first year programs at Lakehead University.
