Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival - Igniting the Creative Fire Within - 65 films and videos

The 6th annual Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival (WAFF)  will be held from November 15 through 18, 2007, featuring another great series of indigenous film and video screenings, workshops and events.

Official 2007 WAFF Schedule Released

Click here for the Official Schedule for the 2007 WAFF that is now available and on-line!

Fans of Canadian and International Indigenous cinema have the next 4 weeks to look over our schedule and decide which of the 65 films and videos they hope to see at one of our four venues. Remember that, once again, all of our screenings are FREE to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis, part of our Festival’s commitment to ensuring local access to world-class Aboriginal artistry.

Our Schedule offers a full slate of film synopses, plus links to film trailers and companion sites. Look for a special “sneak preview” version of our program guide, along with posters showcasing our snazzy new logo, as they hit the streets beginning the week of October 22. An official print version of our program guide will also be coming out in early November.

Youth Workshops

WAFF is pleased to announce the return of its wildly popular Youth Workshop Series this Thursday November 15!

Aimed at high-school students, our final lineup of workshops for this year is nearly complete, but we ask that schools register now. Previous WAFFs included free introductory workshops in acting, camera, editing, producing, directing, and makeup, to name but a few. Participants also got the chance to try and sell a jury on their film or video ideas at our Youth Pitching Forum, with the winning proposal screening at the next year’s festival. About 2 hours long each, workshops will be held at the University of Winnipeg. After participating in 1 or 2 sessions, students then get to watch Festival films for the rest of the day.

To register, email tim@aboriginalfilmfest.org with your name, school and contact information. We will then contact you once the list of workshops is finalized. Any questions, call Tim at 774-1375.
