Ontario Provincial Police assist Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service with Homicide Investigation in Fort Severn First Nation Territory

FORT SEVERN, ON, Sept. 30 - One male suspect has been arrested as police continue to investigate the Murder of a 17-year-old boy and the Attempt Murder of a 21-year-old man. Both victims are residents of the Fort Severn First Nation Territory.

In the early hours of Saturday, September 29, 2007 Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service was called out to a disturbance in the community. Upon arrival at the scene, two males were found lying on the ground outside a local residence suffering from serious life threatening injuries. Both males were transported to the Fort Severn Nursing station where the 17-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries and the 21-year-old victim was medivac to the Winnipeg Health Science Centre for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by Detective Inspector Guy Faucher of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
