TORONTO, September 21, 2007 – Qualified electors in the October 10 provincial general election and referendum may vote at advance polls, starting this Saturday, September 22.

Returning Office advance polls will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (including Sundays) until October 4 in each of the province’s 107 electoral districts.

Qualified electors who did not receive a Notice of Registration card and are not on the Voters List can have their name added at the advance poll and cast their ballots while there. To have their name added to the List, electors must provide documents that show proof of identity and proof of address.

A change to electoral law requires electors to show documents that prove their identity in order to receive their ballots. Electors who are on the Voters List, but do not have proof of identity, can make a declaration.

Advance poll locations may be obtained by visiting www.elections.on.ca or calling 1-888-668-8683.

To be eligible to vote, on October 10, 2007, a person must be:

  • 18 years of age or older, and
  • a Canadian citizen, and
  • a resident of an electoral district in Ontario.

Persons who ceased to live in Ontario within the two years before polling day may be entitled to vote under certain conditions and should contact Elections Ontario for more information.
