SIOUX LOOKOUT - KO-KNet Services & KMobile Users received exciting news today!
The Right Honourable Greg Rickford, MP-Kenora and Minister of the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FEDNOR) made an announcement that would benefit telecommunications in the North. The twenty First Nations Communities who are under the KMobile Network will be part of a cellular network upgrade thanks to today's announcement. K-Net will also increase the network to an additional nine communities. A repayable FedNor contribution of $825,000 will enable us at K-Net Services, to enhance our cellular network in the North. This upgrade will allow the KMobile Nework to provide data services to our current & future KMobile customers. The funding will be allow us to upgrade the current 2G Network in the communities to a 3G Network which will include Data.

Greg Rickford, MP-Kenora and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor) announced an investment to complete network upgrades to deliver enhanced mobile wireless service to 23 First Nations across Northern Ontario.
A repayable FedNor contribution of $825,000 will enable K-Net Services, a division of Keewaytinook Okimakanak (Northern Chiefs Council) to enhance its network, allowing the organization to meet the immediate cellular and data transfer needs of its business and residential clients. Specifically, the funding will be used to purchase and install a core switch, radio network controller and short message service system at K-Net's operating centre in Sioux Lookout.
