NADF's Membership Updates
On February 13, 2013, NADF Board of
Directors regretfully accepted Rosie
Mosquito's resignation from the Board
Membership. Rosie was elected to the membership in 1996
and has also served as a Director during her
tenure, contributing her valuable expertise and knowledge in
governing the affairs of NADF. The Board, management and staff of
NADF thank Rosie for her contributions and many years of
service. We wish her continued success in her role as Executive
Director of Oshki-Pimache-O-Win Education and Training Institute.
Also, on February 13, 2013, NADF's Board of
Directors elected three new Board Members, welcoming Aaron Kakepetum
(Keewaywin First Nation), Jason Rasevych (Ginoogaming
First Nation) and Derek Fox (Bearskin Lake First
Nation) to the membership.
New Staff
We are pleased to welcome two new members
to our team:
NADF is pleased to introduce
an new program - "Mirco-Lending for
Women". This new program will provide support to low
income women seeking to start their own business. This support will
include: financial literacy training, entrepreneurial mentoring, skills
development, and life skills training. These skills will provide women
with the tools needed to ensure success in starting and growing their
business. Linda McGuire joined NADF's team as "Micro
Loans Project Coordinator" on April 16 and will lead this
project. Funding for this project is provided for by
Ontario Women's Directorate.
NADF welcomed Brittany Millard on April 22 as
"Marketing and Communications Intern". Brittany is a
recent graduate of Confederation College and will be working closely with
the Marketing and Communications Coordinator during her one-year
internship. Funding for this position was provided for
by Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).
Local Initiative Contributions (LIC)
NADF is still accepting LIC applications! Eligible community
projects may qualify for up to $5,000 in funding. Eligible projects
include feasibility studies, research projects, environmental assessment
reports, marketing activities, and community events that enhance local
economies. To find out if your community project is eligible contact Tracey Willoughby, Project Assistant
at 1-800-465-6821 or (807) 623-5397 ext. 37 for more details.
Funding is limited and applications are processed on a
'first-come, first-serve basis. Projects must be completed by
December 31, 2013 and final reporting by March 2013. Local
Initiative Contributions (LIC) funding is made possible through FedNor

NADF Survey
NADF has developed a survey
to collect feedback on our marketing initiatives. The survey
is confidential and does not ask respondents to divulge any
indentifying information. Data collected will help
us determine where we should concentrate our marketing efforts
to ensure maximum exposure of our events and services to our
clients. This is a short survey (10 questions) and should take
you less than 5 minutes to complete. We welcome
your feedback and invite you to share the survey with your

May 29-30: NADF is sponsoring the Aboriginal
Partnership and Procurement Conference and Tradeshow during the
upcoming Northern Mine Expo in Timmins, ON. We
are pleased to welcome Phil Fontaine, Special Advisor to RBC
and Noront Rose, and former National Chief of Assembly of First Nations
as the conference luncheon keynote speaker. Many thanks to RBC for

August 16, 2013: The Fort William Country Club will
host the 7th Annual 'Fairways For The Future' Charity Golf Classic on
Friday, August 13, 2013. The tournament is open to players of all
levels and is an excellent networking opportunity. The format
is 4-Person Team, Best Ball, Shotgun Start. Proceeds benefit
the "NADF Sponsorship Fund".

tune in! We offer listeners business tips, interviews
with guest speakers on topics related to
entrepreneurship, economic and business development in northern
Ontario, and news and updates from NADF. It's a show you don't want
to miss!
NADF Radio airs bi-weekly on Monday's (Tuesday if Monday
is a holiday). Listeners can tune in online on
