Online Resources for Teachers and Students in First Nation Schools

Are you a Teacher in a First Nations School in Ontario?

Here are three great opportunities to enrich your classroom....

Ontario Educational Resource Bank (OERB) is a learning object repository which houses digital resources developed by teachers for K-12 that can aid in online or face-to-face instruction. Resources include maps, lesson plans, video clips, games etc. The OERB also enables teachers and students to use another database called Learn360, which has thousands of educational videos and audio clips.

OSAPAC and OESS provide a distribution mechanism whereby software is sent to School Boards, Faculties of Education and First Nations Schools. Software is available for all grades and includes popular programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Career Cruising, Geometer’s Sketchpad, Math Trec and many more. Visit the NED Program website to see if your school qualifies for free software.

The Ned Program provides online supplementary courses to grade 7 and 8 students in First Nation elementary schools and education programs across Ontario.  This free program is designed to enrich – not replace – classroom teaching by offering courses in Math, Science and English Literacy. Students work online to complete short assignments written especially for First Nation schools. All assignments are marked by a certified teacher and grades are only accessible by you, the local teacher. Login when it’s convenient. Have your students work on a whole course or a few assignments. This is very flexible program that allows local teachers to control the level of student participation.
