KiHS STUDENT WINS ABORIGINAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Congratulations to Brandon Rae from North Spirit Lake who competed and successfully won a very rewarding scholarship. The scholarship for $5000 is from Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada (AFOA). Students were asked to highlight their ambitions in business and education and Brandon Rae did just that.

Brandon has been an active student at KIHS for the past 3 years and will be graduating this spring. He has worked hard to keep his grades up and it is no doubt this has literally paid off. Brandon will also be attending Confederation College next year.

When it comes to his community, Brandon helps out the elementary school with ice fishing trips, takes people hunting and fishing, and also shares his meat and fish with the community especially to those that are in need.

Brandon has his community in mind with respect to his future. He plans to take what he learns at Confederation college, and bring it back to his community to help the people there. Brandon and his KiHS teacher Matthew Brown will be traveling to Toronto to attend a three day conference held by AFOA to celebrate the achievements of Brandon and other award winning students from across Canada. With that being said, this is just another proof that hard work and dedication pays off - Congratulations Brandon!
