First Nation Leaders in Canada Re-Elect Shawn A-in-chut Atleo as Assembly of First Nations National Chief

TORONTO, July 18, 2012 /CNW/ - First Nation leaders from across Canada today re-elected Shawn A-in-chut Atleo as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) - the national advocacy organization representing First Nation citizens in Canada.

National Chief Atleo will host a press conference Thursday July 19, 2012 in room 712 of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building at 12:00 p.m.

Three ballots of voting were held today during the 33rd AFN Annual General Assembly taking place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto this week.

National Chief Atleo will begin a three-year term immediately. This is his second term as National Chief.

The final day of the three-day Annual General Assembly continues tomorrow with regular Chiefs' business, including resolutions which mandate the work of the National Chief and AFN.
