Students from PFFNHS had the opportunity to participate in workshops and listen to presentations made by Aboriginal Role Models like Dr. Evan Adams (former Native actor of movies such as Smoke Signals).
A total of 30 booths were set up in the gymnasium of the school to provide information on different career choices. Local organizations such as Meno-ya-win Health Centre, Wawatay Communications and Chez Cherie Hair Salon shared the floor with visiting organizations from Red River College in Winnipeg, Ontario First Nations Technical Services in Thunder Bay as well as Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
PFFNHS Students roamed the gymnasium during the morning hours looking at possibilities for their future careers. Presentations in the afternoon included Ontario First Nations Technical Corporation's Soar with Science presentation (sponsored in part by Industry Canada's First Nations SchoolNet program through the Regional Management Organization), National Defence and Strings Across the Sky which provided the students with different interactive sessions.
K-Net Services was represented by Cal Kenny, Web and Graphic Designer and Willow Fiddler, Youth Initiative Training Program, who used the opportunity to discuss and share with the students the many programs available to them through the use of ICT's. For example, the Youth Initiative Training Program promotes multi-media development and training for interested students while remaining in their home communities.
