The Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA) is looking for an enthusiastic Aboriginal woman to join our team as a Research/Policy Analyst. The Aboriginal Women's Issues Policy/Research Analyst will require knowledge of policy analysis, Aboriginal women's issues, including proposed and legislative changes. Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Aboriginal Women and their families.
The Research/Policy Analyst will be responsible to further their understanding of emerging concerns in the broad area of Aboriginal Women's Issues, in order to assist in the development of programs to address the needs of Aboriginal Women and their families. She/he will advance the development of comprehensive review of existing services, cutbacks and the identification of the outstanding needs of Aboriginal communities, both on and off-reserve, with the overall objective to improve the coordination and quality of services.
The successful candidate must possess either a degree in Political Studies or Indigenous Learning from an accredited University or College, with a minimum 5 years work experience.
Proficiency in the use of computers, including full working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in the establishment of an electronic database is a must. Ability to travel with access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage, a clean driver's abstract and criminal record check is a condition of employment.
