Assembly of First Nations to Host Election Town Hall on First Nation Priorities - National Chief and Federal Party Candidates to Attend

OTTAWA, April 26 /CNW/ - Media are invited to attend a Town Hall discussion with federal party candidates on First Nation election priorities to be convened by Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo this Wednesday evening in Toronto.

Moderated by CBC's Patrice Mousseau, the AFN electoral Town Hall discussion will focus on First Nation priorities. AFN National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo will provide opening remarks.

The candidates from the federal political parties will be asked questions under the themes of affirmation, education, economic development and community health and safety.  There will be opportunities for debate and discussion amongst the candidates.

All federal parties have been invited.  The Liberal Party of Canada, the New Democratic Party and Green Party have confirmed participation.  The Bloc Quebecois is participating in a French-language debate organized by the AFN Quebec-Labrador region that is taking place in Montreal on the same day.  The Conservative Party of Canada has yet to confirm their participation.
