Nishnawbe Aski Police announces summer student employment

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service has received funding to provide summer employment for students within the Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities that NAPS serves.

The YOUTH IN POLICING INITIATIVE (YIPI) will provide a safe and positive summer employment opportunity  for young people between the ages of 14 and 17 who are interested in a policing career. The length of the program is eight weeks of emplyment paid at a rate of $10.70/hour for 40 hours a week.

Five location in the North East Region and four locations in the North West Region will be able to participate in the program. Attawapiskat First Nation, Cochrane, Fort Albany First Nation, Kashechewan, Moose Factory, Eabametoong First Nation, Mishkeegogamang First Nation, Sandy Lake First Nation and Sioux Lookout.

The anticipated start date for the YIPI program will be July 5 and it will run until August 26.

Nishnawbe Aski police are accepting applications immediately. The closing date is Friday, April 20. Applications are available online at the NAPS North West Regional Office in Sioux Lookout, the NAPS North East Regional Office in Cochrane, or at the Band Office in the communities.
